“In Sight” on view through March 8
#Repost @artcollectormagazine ・・・ We curl up with leading Sydney stalwart Tim Olsen of @olsen_gallery & @olsengruin , to find out how he's been keeping himself entertained in #iso . . What are you reading? I have just finished writing a memoir ‘Son of the Brush’, that @allenandunwin will be publishing in November. To understand more deeply the paradox, disposition and privilege of growing up under the shadow of a large creative force, I’ve been reading a lot of other biographies and memoirs of artist’s children. I’m currently reading ‘Experience’ by Martin Amis (son of Kingsley ). I also just read ‘Night Studio’, a memoir on Philip Guston by his daughter Musa Mayer. I have also read ‘My Father’ by Jean Renoir and Pierre Matisse’s biography. Pierre’s novel was great because, as like me, he left another foreign shore (Paris ) to open a gallery in New York. We both had slow starts, despite him having the greater advantage of exhibiting his father Henri and the likes of Giacometti and Picasso. Not a bad line up to initiate a business. . What are you listening to? I’m listening to talks by @caroline .myss. She is the author of ‘Energy Anatomy: The Science of Personal Power, Spirituality, and Health’ and has some amazing understandings of the COVID-19 crisis. I’ve also been listening to @russellbrand on @hearluminary . He interviews some amazing people at the top of their game from all walks of life. For music, Bach’s Cello concerto is so uplifting. . What else are you doing? Apart from keeping the exhibitions going in the gallery, I’ve been implementing new ways to immerse people into the gallery. We have had great success with our virtual tours. Apart from that, every day I’m doing a two-hour workout. Walking 5kms around Centennial Park @centparklands , getting on my rowing machine and indoor cycling. I’m also meditating twice a day. I recently did a challenging 2km ocean swim down at Bondi (it wasn’t too cold! ). I think I’m more mentally and physically fit than I’ve been in years – a silver lining of this time is that it has forced me to be more centred. . Read more on the AC website (link in bio ).

#Repost @olsen_gallery ・・・ Hi all, signing off with this photo of the largest painting I’ve ever made. It was made in New York, 2017 after finishing the Bleached show. It’s called “Gaia” and marked a new direction in my work that I’m still exploring today. Anyway, it’s hard to believe I was in New York in January, but I went over there again to see this work on the walls @olsengruin - a dream come true. Thanks for joining me 🌏 #artiststogetherapart #laurajones #olsengallery #takeover @_laura_jones_

#Repost @_laura_jones_ ・・・ Unsurprisingly the Glasshouse Regional Gallery has now closed due to COVID-19, so my show “Arcadia” can no longer be seen in person. It’s a shame the show has been cut short but it’s for the best for everyone’s safety. However, we’re lucky in the art world that we’re used to showing our work online, so we will keep sharing images and more details about the show. Stay safe and stay home 🐸
Louise Olsen Chimes 2020 oil on linen 32 x 24“ — Always think a sound, like the ring of a bell or a phone ringing is an opportunity to take a deep breath and meditate before you take that call. Bells are often used to break the dark silence and bring new light and perspective to the moment. You can close your meditation with a bell sound as well. This place is a safe place for calm and reflection.

Some consider sat-chit-ananda to be the same as God or Brahman (Absolute Reality ). Others use it as a term to describe the experience of realizing the unity and wholeness of all existence.

#Repost @artifactoid ・・・ #Artist Tariku Shiferaw ( @abstractexit ) just completed this brand new 6 x 5 ft painting, “Dreams (Solange )” from his ongoing One of These Black Boys series. Shiferaw has been taking an Uber to his studio in the Bronx to continue to make work since luckily that has still been an option. He is interested in maintaining as much normalcy in his routine as possible. “I really want to take this time to simply create and get lost in my creativity. I don’t want to make any work related to the current climate. This time of separation can be great for creativity.” — Tariku Shiferaw “Dreams (Solange ),” 2020 Acrylic, plastic, canvas 72”x60 — #artistsmakingart #creativity #socialdistancing #inspiration #artiststudio #brandnew #painting #coronavirus
