I had it in my head that I was going to be a boy mom since finding out we were pregnant with number 2. In fact I didn't believe she was a girl the first time the tech told us. But God knew I needed a mini me. I have absolutely loved all the pink, glitter, and bows we have gone through the past 2 years. Madison is now becoming a fiesty, independent girl. She still loves wearing dresses every day but wants to keep up with everything Michael does. Madison is the rainbow baby God knew I needed ❤ #nationaldaughtersday
Today is #NationalDaughtersDay , but let’s be honest - every day that ends in a “y” is Keira’s day! 💁🏻♀️ She makes me laugh out loud. She drives me nuts. She makes me proud. She is so full of wonder. She loves everyone. She is caring and sweet. She is determined. She’s too smart for her own good. She will run the world. She made me a mama. Happy Daughter’s Day, Bean! You push me to be a better version of myself. You are my WHY. 💕
Drew this for my daughter for a fun painting activity. She painted the apples red to practice the letter A. Easy to prep and so much fun. We used washable paint and dot markers.
“Willow (age 3 ) started Little Learners Homeschool Preschool September 8th. We purchased the preprinted package to save time. We received the package via home delivery within 24 hours. The pack for September was divided up by the weeks making it easy to follow along. The package also came with simple to follow guidelines on how to provide the lessons. So far, Willow and “Teacher Mama” are doing great. We spend each morning, Monday through Friday, playing and crafting as she learns. I find that by doing two activities at a time with a 20 to 30 minute break between has been the best. I also love that the lessons also incorporate exercise (toddler yoga! ). There is minimal prep on my part allowing me to really enjoy spending the quality time with my daughter. The best part of all, Willow loves school. Although she definitely misses the interaction with friends, she loves the continuous routine the homeschooling lessons are providing. Once again, thank you Little Learners for going above and beyond. “ . . #homeschool #preschool #preschoolmama #preschoolplay #mom #mama #tpt #momsofinstagram
The way we talk about food matters. A LOT. • At the risk of repeating a REALLY overused joke, the only clean thing about your food is that you washed it (hopefully ). • So to the parent who tells me that your child “eats clean” → What I really think you’re trying to tell me is: you are trying you very best to give your child a healthy diet while minimizing the foods you think are unhealthy. • This is AMAZING. And I know that you saying this is you just trying to be a good parent. • BUT, there are three potential issues I have with “clean eating”. • 1️⃣ CLEAN EATING IS NOT A THING. There is no universal definition for clean eating. There is no secret scale that nutrition experts use to rate a diets cleanliness. “Clean eating” is a term coined by the wellness industry to make you feel like your child’s diet (or yours ) is “dirty”, and that you need a product/supplement/treatment to fix it. 2️⃣ When you say food is “clean”, you are implying that other food is “dirty”. Our children generally get the message (from you or others ) that dirty is bad and clean is good. And now we have associated morality with food. We are indirectly telling our kids that they are good when they eat a certain way, and bad when they eat another. And THIS mentality can lead to an unhealthy relationship with food. • 3️⃣ The idea of eating “clean” perpetuates the notion that the only healthy diet is one free of additives, colors, anything in a wrapper, non-organic produce, sugar, and pretty much anything else that can be considered “bad”. BUT, the truth is, your child’s diet can be healthy WITH these things or WITHOUT. • What’s WAY more important than your child’s diet being “clean”? • Healthy relationships with food Family meals Social skills learned at mealtimes Learning life skills in the kitchen Fruits and veggies (canned, frozen, famers market, all of the above ) VARIETY • Rant over. Share this with someone who needs to know that the number of packaged foods that they serve their kids is not a measure of their parenting skills. OR share with someone who needs a loving nudge to stop using the phrase “clean eating” 😉
Narrative skills are so important- and the best news is- you are doing many things everyday that help encourage these skills. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ There are many ways to encourage narrative skills in your child, and they take little to no planning. Does your child have a favorite book? Ask them to “read” it to you! Talk about your day- and ask them questions about their own. Look at family photos together (on your phone is totally ok! ) and talk about where you were, what you were doing. Use puppets, stuffed animals, little figures to make up a story or retell a fan favorite. Pause during a book or show and ask your child to re-cap what’s going on, ask a few questions. The list goes on... ✨✨✨ And most importantly- meet your child where they are at. It shouldn’t feel like a quiz. Fill in the missing pieces of a story to keep it going, or ask clarifying questions to keep them on track. Which of these does your kiddo love doing? I’ll start by sharing how my girls are story telling these days in the comments.

I started this post with a list of reasons why this day has been hard. But what use is that? Whoa ho, Bekah Jayne! "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you!" Not that y'all don't care, but we all got issues and we all have a big God who wants us to lay them before him. So instead, today I am beyond thankful for 🍁 Gorgeous weather providing moments of peace 🍁 A husband who is steady amongst the chaos 🍁 A toddler who is quick to forgive a short fuse 🍁 A belly full of strong baby kicks, each one reminding me of the miracle within 🍁 A sister who is bringing Chick-fil-A for dinner and undoubtedly a tight squeeze 🍁 These few moments to snuggle a teeny body with big emotions Is life a little on top of you today? How can I pray for you? Satan works overtime to steal the joy of our blessings- but he can't have that authority if we don't give it!!!
Another season, another seasonal stand! It’s a rainy day in Washington, so I’ll be enjoying Emmie’s homemade chili and pumpkin coffees all day! 🧡 . . I was a kindergarten teacher for 8 years before I became a mama. This little stand has always been a fun way to let that part of me come out and my daughter has loved it. In this day of virtual learning and an increase in homeschooling, it’s become something so beneficial for both of us! Dramatic play is such a beautiful learning tool and so developmentally appropriate for littles. A stand is a great and easy way to help your kiddos learn through play, and there are so many ways to mix it up! (As an added bonus, it keeps them OCCUPIED for long periods of time! ) This month we’re making chili and coffee and selling pumpkins at her stand (anyone else’s kiddo obsessed with making creations in the kitchen? ). She’s using her fine motor skills, practicing measurement, counting, sorting, exploring colors, using money, building her imagination, being creative, practicing writing skills (that little specials board has my heart! ) and so much more! . . A quick visit to a craft store and a big cardboard box later you can make a great little stand of your own! (Or you can make a little stand like we did out of scrap wood! ) . . . #pdcwoodworks #homeschoollife #homeschoolingmom #preschoolactivities #preschoolplay #fallplaydate #preschoolmama #homeschoolmama #fallhomeschoolactivities #learningthroughplay #invitationtoplay #woodworkingmama #rainydayfun #fallfun #itsfallyall #pumpkinpatchkids #pumpkinsforeveryone #sociallydistancedfun #quarantinefunwithkids #preschoolcovidstyle #toddlerlife #todderactivities #toddlerfun #toddlerlearning
Could you imagine going to the mountains during the week? When I was teaching, there would have been no way for me to enroll Michael in nature school. There was no flexibility with that schedule. IT WAS NOT LUCK THAT BROUGHT ME HOME! I took a huge leap of FAITH leaving teaching in the spring of 2018. I have been blessed with many opportunities to work from home over the past couple of years. But I have finally found a community I love and clients I find joy in! September is a big opportunity month! Are you ready?
When your kiddos decide to be TUB THUMPIN instead of sleeping, you decide that you’re so glad that you became one of those “wooooo” people who are all about affirmations, personal development, and meditation and press play on the new meditation program that’s conveniently called “Superpower: CALM” instead of eating your feelings like you had in the past 👏 . So glad past me decided to become open minded 🙌 . Have you tried meditation yet? 💯% recommend ✌️

Woke up this morning feeling an insane amount of gratitude.🖤 . 6 years ago I used to dread every single Monday. . Knowing that I would be rushing out the door in the dark, hoping traffic wasn't too bad, praying I didn’t get stuck behind a bus, hoping the dog wouldn’t rush the gate & take off, dreading if the girls wouldn’t cooperate/be in a good mood - my anxiety was already high by 7:30AM. . Wash. Rinse. Repeat. . I was guilty of giving Monday the opportunity to control my mood & my day - and boy did I let it. Most days actually... . I know a lot of professions/trades are in a traditional 9-5 setting, and I’ve worked for businesses like that since I was 16 years old. No shame in that at all - I just wanted/needed something different.✨ . I was tired of the mom guilt for calling out at work again because my daughter was constantly sick. . I was working full time, but only bringing in $50 a month after daycare & gas. . I was missing my daughter’s special milestones that I so desperately wanted to be a part of.🖤 . I was let go from a job because I wouldn’t find a new full time daycare just to pick up a 4 hour shift once a week, and was told I “wasn’t being a team player”. Listen, my daycare was legit the best place ever - my kids weren’t going anywhere else. . I was a miserable person to be around, and I felt defeated. Just ask my husband. . The silver lining to getting let go was that I had started my health & wellness coaching business 6 months prior, and was already bringing in a significant income, so my husband & I agreed to have me be home. That was 5.5 years ago and I haven’t looked back.🖤 . The ONLY regret that I have about joining this coaching community, getting to work full time from home, be with my girls, and mentor my team/clients, is that I didn't do it sooner.... . I’m incredibly grateful for those little hints that kept getting sent my way, and my mom saying "Go for it. Give it a shot. You have nothing to lose." . Now I spend my Monday’s a little differently, but at least now I can put my “bosses” in time out if I need to 🤣 . (Cont’d in comments )

I find that game schooling is the best way to teach Amiyah, it’s super fun and because she tends to get bored or uninterested easily, it keeps her very interested in learning... Upper body workout after work today. I didn’t want to but I knew I would thank myself after. 💪🏻 I’m looking to be the healthiest best version of myself. Am I perfect 100% of the time... heck no! No one is! Do I get back on track after i have a lapse? Absolutely! It may be hard and it may take me a while but I know that I can do it. 💪🏻 Also I knew that it had been a really long time since upper body lifting so I used 3 and 5 lb weights. It’s not about how much you lift it’s that you do it and do it safely. 💪🏻 I’m grateful for my workouts, grateful that I don’t need to leave my house for them and grateful that Lilyana gets to watch me take care of my body. #workout #strongmama #healthyliving #healthymama #preschoolmama #teachstrength #loveyourbody
👉 Does your toddler ever fill a bag or backpack with every.single.little.toy in the house? And then somehow you become tasked with sorting everything back to it's original location? 🤦 Oh yeah, I'm sure you're familiar #livingthatmomlife 😀 So this time I decided to tape down construction paper in rainbow order and have my toddler empty the bag o' things by color sorting 🌈 This is a great activity to do intentionally (where you choose the items ) or it can be a fun way to clean up a mess 🤷 Even if your toddler knows their colors well, once all the items are sorted, it's fun to look at all the YELLOW items and talk about how they differ, etc. 👉 Then to clean up, we put away one color paper at a time 👍 This activity could serve as a great boredom buster, morning activity, or something to keep them busy while you make dinner ⭐ . . . . . . . . . . . #toddleractivities #toddleractivityidea #keepingkidsbusy #toddlerplaytime
#ad 🥕 STORY TIME ABOUT TODDLER NUTRITION 🥬 A few months ago at Owen’s wellness appointment for 15 months they noticed that his weight wasn’t gaining on they track they would traditionally like. Since he’s always been a chunkkkkky boy and close to the top of the charts in weight, they weren’t overly concerned but as we discussed his daily diet and food habits I learned that his love of milk may not be the best for him to have all day long. All my kids have loved a cold sippy cup of milk as toddlers, but I needed to start filling his cup with some more protein and more nutritional value. That’s just about when I found @elsenutrition & learned about their whole, clean, and plant based ingredients that provide my kids with a great alternative! Although we aren’t a dairy free family, I know that many families are! As many parents have sought for alternatives to dairy and soy, there is finally a drink for babies and toddlers to enjoy that gives them the nutritional composition they need. Oh, and good news. At his next appointment Owen was perfectly back on track! ☺️ #ElseNutrition is made with almonds, buckwheat, and tapioca - minimally processed so that there is no chemical altering necessary and provide optimal nutrition. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Free of hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, gluten, palm oil, and corn syrups and packed with 92% whole plant ingredients. #somethingelseishere 🥬☀️👍🏻 Have you ever needed a dairy or soy free alternative in your child’s diet?! Use code FAITH-ELSE25 for 25% off your order!
Keep reading for what to do if your kid throws a tantrum when dinner is ready 👇 • Tantrums before mealtimes can mean a few things: • Your kiddo is active and busy, and would much rather keep playing than sit still at dinner. → Try using pre-mealtime mindfulness techniques and use a visual timer at mealtimes so they know how long they have to sit. • Your kiddo doesn't like to try new foods or is stressed about the foods you serve. → Check out my Growing Intuitive Eaters 101 course (link in bio for a free webinar ) to learn how to use FUN to help your kids try new foods and eat more veggies. • Something about their eating environment is uncomfortable. → Check their chair for proper positioning. If they have sensory needs, provide them with tools to help make them more comfortable and meet their sensory needs. If you feel that eating itself is uncomfortable, enlist the help of your pediatric dietitian, pediatric SLP, or pediatrician. • Was this info helpful? Anybody else eager for Halloween? 🎃 Ava and Hayden have been begging for their costumes for two weeks now. Yesterday, the delivery guy pulled in - and you would have thought he was dropping off a million bucks! The girls quickly got their costumes on and started pretending. They even insisted wearing them on a walk, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐀𝐯𝐚 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. We came home and urged her to change out of her costume because she seemed overheated. She cried and cried as I took it off of her. And then her crying turned to screaming. Has this happened with your little one before? Sometimes an unpredictable tantrum can trigger us - cause us to yell, which adds fuel to the fire. This time.. I was able to take deep breaths while I held her sobbing little self. It hit me as I was holding her that she had not eaten since 12:00 and it was 5:00. She was so excited about her costume that she literally didn't eat her afternoon snack. Hangry. Such a good reminder that tantrums are often about an underlying trigger that isn't easy for us to see on the surface. After she ate a few apple slices she was back to her normal self - and even asked to keep her costume off for a while. Shew. Parenting is tricky, isn't it? #parenting #toddlermama #preschoolmama #twinmama #momshelpingmoms #charlottemom #charlottemoms #tantrums #triggers #socialemotionalcoach #socialemotionalearning #halt #toddlerhood #mommyblogger

Inspired by my friend @beginathome , I’m going to be starting a new series called Tip Thursday where I share a simple tip, trick or hack to make life easier! ⠀ ⠀ 💡 Today’s tip is to ask yourself: do I already own this? ⠀ ⠀ For me, my first inclination when I see something on Pinterest or an idea in a magazine is to buy, buy, buy. But, more often that not, I’m often able to repurpose something I already own that works just as well AND I end up saving money. ⠀ ⠀ Some examples:⠀ - Moving an unused piece of furniture from one room to another. Sometimes something that doesn’t work well in one space is so much more functional in another space. ⠀ - Using a lunch bag as storage for school supplies or as packing cubes on a trip.⠀ - Repurposing old containers (candle jars, recycling ) instead of buying organizers.⠀ - Shifting spaces and tapping into unused storage space. Instead of trying to organize a single space that is too full, utilizing unused space in another part of the house.⠀ - Instead of buying new items for a specific craft, using what we already have. It doesn’t have to be an exact replica! ⠀ ⠀ If you’ve used this tip before, what have you repurposed or used that you already owned instead of buying something new?
Swipe for all the answers you never thought you needed about fiber and your kid's poop. • #Fiber . It's nature's broom. It's found in lots of fruits and veggies. AND it is my favorite carbohydrate. (yes... I have a favorite carb. You don't?? ) • Fiber is also a very important part of a child's diet. It helps regulate bowel movements, supports the development of a healthy gut microbiome, is often accompanied by lots of awesome vitamins and minerals, and helps keep those little tummies full until their next snack or meal. • Now that you've read through this post, you should be able to answer all the burning questions about why veggies help you poop from your "but WHYYYY" child. • If want your kid to eat more fiber, DM me for info about my Growing Intuitive Eaters 101 course that teaches moms to make food fun so their kids eat more veggies 🥦 • Comment below with your favorite high-fiber emoji if you liked this post! • #toddlermoms #strongmamas #preschoolmama #nondietdietitian #divisionofresponsibility #dietitian #telehealth #onlinenutritionist #pediatricdietitian #nutritionforkids #healthykidsfood #pickyeating #pickyeaters #fussyeater
As a mom you always worry about enough. If you’re giving enough, if you’re teaching enough, if you’re doing enough, if you ARE enough. ❤️ You are. ❤️ I always worry if I’m doing enough to teach Harvie Belle. I always worry if I’m doing enough to teach Huxlie Grace. ❤️ I am. ❤️ I know because Harvie never lets me skip a school time. She loves that time together. I know because Huxlie will do her fastest power crawl to see me. I light up their world. And they light mine. ❤️ I searched near and far for a reading/preschool program that was effective, easy to use, and kid approved. I couldn’t find one. So, I made my own. We love reading and doing these workbook pages at our house! I hope you love them too. ❤️ It can be overwhelming and stressful to know what to do for your little one. Use the reading book, do the matching workbook pages, sing and play, hug and kiss, and that’s all you need! I promise it’s enough. ❤️ Don’t forget to use code GETREADING now until Friday for 50% off. Representation matters. Children of color need to see that they are the hero. White children need to see that children of color are the hero. Children of all races need to see that they can befriend one another. • I think it is important to note that in my research to find more books for my family I STRUGGLED to find books where black boys were the main character (specifically in books that are not about historical figures or events ). • Swipe ➡️ to see a list of books that we own/have read and enjoy. If you’re like me, you probably can’t afford to change your overnight. Utilize your library card! I have 20+ on hold at the library and I will keep you posted about the ones we love so you can check them out too. • I would love to hear any of your recommendations on books with black characters.
💓This week she should be beginning her last year of preschool, but her school ended up deciding not open so….we are doing school at home this fall! It’s sad because she keeps asking me about her class and friends, but I keep trying to tell her that our adventures will be just as fun so...pray for us? 😅 Love my beautiful, sassy, smart, middle child and can’t believe she’s 4.5! Here’s to a great year together💓
I can always count on her to make me laugh. Or cry, you know. At least she didn’t make this face for her preschool picture. Although I’m still on the fence about buying one since the smallest package costs a mortgage payment and your left kidney. Why is this a thing??

This week at home with KJ has been so much fun 😊. We usually try to do different types of activities and arts & crafts with him, BUT this week was different! It was the first time I actually planned everything out & prepared his environment with the right materials & books 𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. It made ALL the difference 🙌🏼 I had a game plan for each day and seamlessly transitioned from one thing to the next throughout our days, without feeling frustrated wondering what else I should do next to keep KJ engaged. I realized that he likes to be challenged — so if he ever gets too bored or if something isn’t stimulating him enough, he tends to act up for no reason other than being under stimulated. (Which, in turn, frustrates me because that means I now have a cranky toddler to deal with 😂 ) This week also seemed to have been really great for him, too. I’m not even exaggerating, but this boy has literally 𝘄𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 every single day this week. Not because he couldn’t sleep, or needed a diaper change, or because he was hungry — 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. If there’s anything I’m willing to lose sleep over, it’s definitely this. Never thought reading about (& playing with ) worms at 6AM could ever make my heart this full 🥰
Flashback to one of my very first activities eva. I can still vividly see this activity hanging in my best friend’s play room after she tried it with her son. Holy moly did that make me feel proud and super self-conscious all at once. ••• That’s how this whole Sandbox Academy thing became a thing. A few friends and I weren’t sending our kids to preschool yet, so I offered to create some activities for us to do at home with our kids. ••• This little scarecrow is made from a variety of simple shapes, requires cutting ✂️, and glueing (2 of Derek’s favorite things ) and makes me oh so nostalgic. ✨
Eight years ago, the night before I started with students, my anxiety was HIGH. I was teaching at my dream high school in my dream district, and I was so afraid that I would mess it up. Steve took me to our favorite restaurant. The place where we had our first date, celebrated my 25th birthday, and got engaged. We talked about my anxiety, and he talked about how he felt when he started in the district and helped me normalize my feelings. • • • Since then, we have gone to the same place every year before school starts. We reminisce about our summer and our plans for the upcoming school year. Yes, summer is amazing, but we LOVE our jobs and our students. Having this fun dinner helps us get excited to head into the school year. • • • This year was different. Steve went and picked up dinner, and we made ice cream sundaes. Instead of walking into our respective buildings today, we sat on Zoom meetings. #finemotorskills are essential for #littlelearners to master so they can strengthen their hand muscles and do real life activities such as write, button their shirts, and zip their pants!👚👖 This #appleactivity can be used in so many different ways to teach several skills in one sitting! Yay #differentiation ✅ handwriting ✅ pincer grip ✅ play doh rolling ✅ letter recognition Here, we traced the letters with a dry erase marker and also added “apple seeds” to build each letter! You could also build the letters with pom poms, mini erasers, play doh etc. What will you use?
