𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐲! . . Hope you get to enjoy some delicious strawberries 🍓 Today, I've been working on the gen chemistry book and work for my summer classes. I'm taking microbiology and the corresponding lab and so far the material has been interesting and manageable. I'm so glad I have friends taking the course with me because we can help each other learn. It has been a bit difficult to adjust my schedule once more to accommodate for my summer classes and MCAT work but it's getting better each day. Thank you for 300 followers! ❤️ . . 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴? . . Bonne journée nationale de la pré-médecine ! . . . . Quel est votre plat préféré à grignoter pendant vos études ?
~Year one of med school is over~ I can’t believe it but year one is over. Time flew by so fast. I still remember day of orientation, our first day in anatomy lab, our white coat ceremony, and so many other important milestones from the first year. Year 1 was everything I expected & more. Adjusting to the pace of med school was one of the most difficult things I’ve probably done. And unlike undergrad, adjustments were constantly being made & being made more frequently. I was constantly tweaking my studying habits and my study schedule based on the class I was in at the time. Year one is anything but static. I went through imposter syndrome to comparing myself to others & how they were studying to panicking about feeling like I wasn’t doing enough extracurriculars to dealing with classes now being 100% online. While, studying & balancing everything was somewhat hectic at times, my first year was also really fun. I’ve made so many good friends & I have so many good memories to look back on. At the beginning of the year, everyone kept telling me to enjoy this year because it would be my least stressful year & I’m glad I did that. Finding that balance between enjoying time with friends & still doing well in school was so important. As crazy as it was, year one was unforgettable & I’m happy with where I am when it ended. (Minus the pandemic part ofc )

Ok so I took my first diagnostic MCAT exam today. Yes I realize I took it later but I wanted to get a lot of content review done beforehand. I didn't do very well. But honestly, I don't feel unmotivated. I felt a little sad for a bit. But also proud. Because I sat and I did it. And that was the hardest part. I'm going to keep at it and raise my score. #premed #premedstudent #premedmotivation #notes #studygram #prettynotes #MCAT #mcatprep #mcatstudying #medstudent #doctor #remotelearning #mcatmotivation #digestivehealth #premedlife #student #studentlife #aamcmcat #aamc #studentdoctor #medschool #medschoolnotes #premedblog #blog
I’m not even going to lie... I took a much needed “me day” today. I slept in, did a face mask, read a fun book, did yoga, made a big breakfast, watched a few shows on hulu, did a little journaling, and spent some time on Pinterest 🌟 trust your body when it tells you to rest!!
Cars, Cars, Cars! Getting practice in anyway I can! This packet was geared for the old MCAT exam. But it’s still great for practice! I try to do Cars everyday. 𝙱𝚎𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝙴𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚂𝚎𝚎𝚖𝚕𝚢 𝙿𝚞𝚝 𝚃𝚘𝚐𝚎𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗, 𝚃𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝙰𝚛𝚎 𝙸𝚖𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜 From 2019-2020, I accomplished the dream of getting into medical school. However, oftentimes, I sacrificed my health to accomplish that goal. Here is an image with a couple of tools I have used to improve my self-care. 1️⃣ From my anxiety, I had a hyper-awareness of my surroundings and body sensations, putting me on edge. I constantly felt a fight-or-flight response, which taxed my body. Journaling allow me to convey my frustrations and emotions onto paper where I feel some relief. Another way I calm my nerves is by using the @calm app. It has a lot of guided exercises for meditation. I used this app to mediate every night before I go to bed. 2️⃣ Lacking guidance in my early childhood, I had to turn to books for direction. My favorite book is 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒊𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆, which I’ve read several times. It is a great book for fundamental life skills, such as methods on how to developing strong relationships. 3️⃣ I spend a lot of time on computer, especially when I had to write all those secondaries. My wrist began hurting a lot from typing, which prompted me to buy this brace. Now, I wear it a lot at night to stabilize my wrist and when I’m on the computer at home and at work. I'm working on not abusing my body, but because I need to use my wrist for daily activities the brace serves as a crutch. Enough about me though. Comment on how you have been taking care of yourself this past year! I am sure we all have our own ways 😁
Today is the last Wednesday of Mental Health Awareness Month! We wanted to take this time to encourage you to check in with yourself the same way you check on friends and family. It’s so easy to become wrapped up in our work, exams, research, and other aspects of our lives that we forget to take time for ourselves. So we encourage you today to take a moment to yourself in whatever way you like. Maybe that’s taking a break from the news, getting outside and taking a walk, cooking yourself a meal, or trying out meditation. There’s no right way to engage in #selfcare , just do what feels right for you today 🌻 #wellnesswednesday #medschool #futuremd #futuredoc #futuredoctor #application #medicalschool #premed #premedlife #covid19 #minoritymedics #medstudentlife #AMCAS #premeds #premedstudents #premedadvice #premedblog #premedmotivation
Someone asked me “how to deal with a not so great grade after studying a lot” 🤔 I’ve definitely experienced this in undergrad and it can be discouraging especially when you’ve put in so much time and effort into learning, however, dwelling on the past will hinder your performance in the future. So here’s what I suggest instead 1. Be honest with yourself. Even though you studied a lot were you fully engaged? Did you give yourself enough time or did you cram a few days before? What was it that could have possibly prevented you from learning the material as well as you should? Answer these questions, and make adjustments to your future study schedule 2. Go to office hours and have an honest conversation with your professor about your struggles. They may have some advice as to how to study for the class and also can help you identify what went wrong 3. Learn from it! Like I said you can’t go back and change the past but use this as an opportunity to grow and do better. Negative thinking will only dwindle your confidence causing you to perform less than you’re able 4. Don’t compare. I have never been one to share my grades even when I do very well. I personally thing that it’s no ones business and is the cause of competitive culture in pre health majors. Unless it’s someone you really trust, don’t feel the need to share and compare your grades with others You will not be perfect 100% of the time. Give yourself enough grace to “fail forward” and use your setbacks as an opportunity to comeback even smarter and stronger than before #premed #prehealth #premedblog #MCATchanges #positivity #blogger #premedblogger #healthblogger #lifestyleblogger #premed #MCAT #premedicine #futuredoctor #lifestyleblog #wellnessblog #scienceblog #science #biology #studyinspiration #inspiration #sleep #womenshealth #recipe #foodblog #mcatstudy #womeninSTEM #homeworkouts #fitness #motivation @christinaaliang 💛

✯functional workspaces✯ ———————————————— a huge challenge i have learn to overcome is how to organize my workspace. many people don’t realize this but how you lay out your work area GREATLY affects your productivity! crazy, right?! a few years ago, i never designated a place for where i got my work done, so i ended up sitting on my bed or in the dining room. worst. idea. ever. i always procrastinated & never felt motivated to get my work done. a lot of trial and error later, i have perfected my space. the most important thing that i have learned is to make the space work for YOU. do not try to clutter up your desk with stuff you don’t grab to on the daily. there is no point in keeping items on your desk that take up space & that can potentially distract you! a huge thing that works for me is changing up where i study. whether it be a coffee shop, library, or even a comfy couch, sometimes you might just need a change of scenery! do you have a designated workspace & is it functional to your needs? 🖇✂️✏️ ————————————————- #premedmotivation #premed #premedlife #prepa #prepastudent #motivation #studymotivation #studygram #study #womeninmedicine #womeninstem #notetoself #premedical #premedicine #medicine #premedadvice #premedjourney #premedblog #premedinspiration
✨ Learning from my mistakes!! ✨ — This is my second time taking the MCAT, and I’m grateful I’m seeing serious improvement. I feel a lot better going into this exam than I did last summer! ☺️ — I’m definitely learning from my mistakes on how to prepare for an exam like this and I can hopefully take this newfound ~wisdom~ into future exams (like Step 1 and 2 )! 🙏🏽 — If I were to narrow down what has been the most helpful change in my study habits, it’s that I’m practicing smart instead of just blindly doing questions and full length tests. I dissect every mistake and every guess I make on a practice exam, I study what I had trouble with, lightly review what I did well on, and I know when to take breaks. 📚 — The MCAT is a marathon, and it’s very easy to get discouraged studying for it because it’s an important part of the application. I’ve just had to continuously remind myself that whether I’m improving or not, moving forward and learning is the best thing I can do for myself! — At this point, I’m getting the scores I’ve hoped for, so I’m planning to just keep pushing hard to secure this bag so that I can finalize my school list and submit my apps!! 🙌🏽 It’ll be up to fate at that point!! — For those of us spending this quarantining studying for this MCAT, we got this!! It’ll all be worth it when we get that med school acceptance!! 😭 — #mcat #mcatstudying #mcatprep #mcatscore #premed #premedstudent #premedlife #premedmotivation #premedblog #summer2020 #studygram #studymotivation #studytips #neuroscience #psychology #student #workingfromhome #selflove

Have you ever noticed how certain people are always successful. No matter what they attempt, they succeed. Now some people can chalk that up to being “lucky”. But, is that what is necessary to be successful? Now don’t get me wrong. Some people really are just plain lucky. I’m not one of those people, unfortunately. But, what I have noticed is, most successful people have one thing in common - the right attitude. If you think about it, the right attitude is all you need to succeed! Why? Simple, if you’re in the mindset that you’re going to be successful no matter what life throws at you. You don’t take no shit from anyone, especially life. When you’re down in the dirt, you know it’s only situational & you’ll rise above it. You don’t let anyone or any experience dissuade you. That’s attitude! That’s success! So, if there’s anything you want to tackle beautiful people, then first set out to clear your mental space & change your attitude. Know that it’ll be hard, but you’ll get through it. You’ll be whomever you want to be! Start today! What goals are you setting for yourself? 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙. So much goes into creating your application - it is literally years in the making. Today I wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who has helped me through the process of applying to medical school. I had a lot of help from my family, prehealth advisors, and my @medschoolcoach mentors, but I also got so many tips, information, and advice from this amazing medical community on Instagram. • I think it is more important now than ever to focus on premed collaboration over competition. Swipe to check out some of the women who have really inspired me personally - all of the accounts I included post information designed to help premed and medical students 💕 • I posted this picture of myself from the pre-pandemic days because I miss summers like this. I miss visiting @shoppigment , going out with friends, the carnival rides, the beach days. But this experience has also made me so grateful for everything I have ❤️ • What is one thing that you are especially grateful for today?
The importance of friendships that motivate you: 💫I've had my fair share of rotten friends. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I recently had to cut off a very unsupportive friend who kept making me feel down. 💫However, I'm also pretty blessed to have friends like the one who sent me this message. I was feeling very sad the last week from making the decision to do a postbacc, insecurity as an applicant, etc. She picked up on it and has been sending me the sweetest messages for the last week. 💫While you don't NEED anybody to become a doctor, it definitely helps and feels nice to know somebody believes in you. #premed #premedstudent #premedmotivation #notes #studygram #prettynotes #MCAT #mcatprep #mcatstudying #medstudent #doctor #remotelearning #mcatmotivation #motivation #futuredoc #premedlife #student #studentlife #aamcmcat #aamc #studentdoctor #medschool #medschoolnotes #premedblog #blog
What quarantine has taught me As the end of May (mental health awareness month ) draws near, and as we enter what (I hope ) may be one of the last few months of quarantine, I’ve been reflecting on this strange time and all the lessons that I’ve learned I’ve never spent so much time by myself so this has been a strange yet eye opening time for me When quarantine first started I was far from my best self. I felt like I had spread myself a little too thin and was completely stressed out/burn out after graduating. But a few weeks into quarantine and a handful of therapy sessions later, I started feeling much lighter I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this. Life is hard. Everyone is going through something whether they decide to share it or not. That being said, it’s so important to be someone who uplifts those around you and equally as important that you surround yourself with people that make you feel and act your best Life is way too short for negativity and although we’re all imperfect and will have our bad days. But after quarantine, I think it’ll be important (for me at lest ) to be sure to focus on and nurture the positive aspects in my life rather than dwelling on the negatives that are out of my control✨ Even though mental health awareness month is coming to an end, continue to have those important conversations and check in with yourself and those around you on a regular basis💛 Honorable mentions for biggest lessons: 1. It’s okay to take some alone time to work on yourself. It’s okay to re-evaluate what is serving you and whats not 2. PUT THE PHONE DOWN when you’re out with people. You never know when another pandemic will hit and that will be your only way of connecting with people. Enjoy the presence of other people 3. There is bad in the world but there is PLENTY of good as well. See the good and be the good Happy Tuesday, Everyone! 💛✨ whats something you’ve learned during this crazy time?
this is what 3 days of ecology looks like... 😬
Dunno if it has been obvious but I have had a rough go of it in terms of MCAT prep. I've been working on it but I've also been consistently unmotivated and feeling hopeless. Today I did a bio passage. The whole time I was answering it and I felt unsure on my answers. Yet. I scored a 100%. This made me feel better. #premed #premedstudent #premedmotivation #notes #studygram #prettynotes #MCAT #mcatprep #mcatstudying #medstudent #doctor #remotelearning #mcatmotivation #PMS #premedlife #student #studentlife #aamcmcat #aamc #studentdoctor #medschool #medschoolnotes #premedblog #blog
Reviewing is EVERYTHING Saturdays full length didn’t go as well as I wanted it to but that’s okay because I have loads of time left and 8 more practice exams to go I would much rather make mistakes now so I can learn from them and do better on the next one Like they say “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results” That’s why reviewing your full lengths is so important, so that you can recognize weaknesses and implement new strategies into your study routine. I try to review mine on the same day that I took it so that my thought process during the exam is fresh in mind What keep in mind while reviewing your full length: 1.Ask yourself why you got the question wrong. What was your thought process? What was wrong with the answer you chose? What deterred you from the right one? 2.Is there a pattern/habit that you need to break? Are you getting a specific question type wrong? Are you not great at interpreting graphs or manipulating formulas? Find your weakness and focus on strengthening it 3.How were you feeling? Did you get enough sleep the night before? Did you have too much or too little caffeine? Did you have a lot of energy in the beginning and half way though start to crash? These are things to be mindful of when reviewing your test overall. Be sure to give your body the proper nutrients and enough rest for the exam. That looks different for everyone so it is best that you play around with different foods during your practice full length in order to find out what works for you If you don’t do well on one of your practice exams, don’t be discouraged. You may lose some small battles along the way, but you’ll win the war Happy studying! 💛 #premed #prehealth #premedblog #MCATchanges #positivity #blogger #premedblogger #healthblogger #lifestyleblogger #premed #MCAT #premedicine #futuredoctor #lifestyleblog #wellnessblog #scienceblog #science #biology #studyinspiration #inspiration #sleep #womenshealth #recipe #foodblog #mcatstudy #womeninSTEM #homeworkouts #fitness #motivation

Mental Health Awareness Month is coming to an close soon and I wanted to share a bit about my thoughts and feelings surrounding mental health. I hope the stigma continues to fade. Both men and women are affected. Everyone should feel safe to seek help. To any of you dealing with a mental illness - you are not alone. Mental illness affects so many people, especially these days. It is not something to be ashamed about. Be proud of yourself for getting through each day, be proud of yourself for taking care of yourself and be proud of yourself for asking for help. So many people are too embarrassed to ask for help but there is truly nothing braver. My favorite self care activity is hanging with the pup🥰 Keep practicing self care, especially during this time and Tell me your favorite self-care activities below💕

After a few months of waiting, I was accepted off the waitlist at my top choice medical school! For the past few months I haven’t had a clear idea about where I would be once medical school started. I felt awkward when people would ask where I was going to medical school because I truly didn’t know. Now I can confidently say I’m going to my top choice medical school in my hometown 20 mins away from home. Things couldn’t have worked out any more perfectly at the end of this application cycle. If you would have told me one year ago after I took my MCAT that everything would turn out okay I would have been hesitant! But one year later here we are! m e n t a l • h e a l t h . hey guys! i’m using this post to highlight two important things. many of you know, may is asian pacific american and mental health awareness month. i was inspired by @arguingformedicine to talk about this. . i grew up chinese and i’m super proud of where i came from. it’s a unique experience to be asian american, i’m partially bilingual (my cantonese is not the best ), and i get to celebrate both cultures. . but because i’m asian, there is mindset that showing emotions is “weak.” you might have heard that we never really say “i love you,” which is true, often times our parents show that in other ways. i guess one of the most harming things that i wanted to bring light to is that we aren’t encouraged to talk about our feelings or allowed to show weakness. it is perfectly acceptable to have feelings and to struggle with anxiety, depression, etc. . not everyone has mental illness, but we should all protect our mental health. mental health should not be something that we’re scared to talk about.
This is my first post of this ig. I hope this post will remind me when I am tired or out of passion for studying. This is also secret preparation too. Nobody in my family knows about this. Even my friends or my siblings. I won't tell them until I succeed. And I won't stop.
A better day today. My phone died while I was asleep and so I got up without an alarm (3 hours later than my wakeup time ). I'm not even upset. I gave my body the rest it needed. I reviewed some psych content today (7, 8, 9 of Kaplan Book ). I need to review Chapters 1,2,3 still. I also spent almost 3 hours reviewing gen chem 😱. And of course, I had started off my day with the CARS passage. A productive day overall. Still have not rescheduled my MCAT. HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN RESEARCH Someone asked me how to get a research a position when you have no experience. Here are my top 4 tips on how to get your foot in the research door Develop meaningful relationships with your professors. There’s a good chance that they or someone they know is involved with a research position and is looking for assistants. If they know you well, they’ll be more willing to offer you a position. One time I asked one of my professors for a research position and it was so embarrassing because she basically said, “I don’t even know who you are” (major fail ). But her response was totally valid as she had hundreds of students, many of which were probably seeking the same opportunity Join a pre health or science based organization on campus. In my organization, there were many “hand me down” positions from recent graduates. Whenever someone from the organization graduated, they would usually refer someone from the org to be their replacement. This is one of those situations where connections really pay off Do your research on research: search different research projects going on around campus and get an understanding about what the research is about! The worst thing you can do is walk into a research interview and not have a clue about what they’re researching Cast your net wide. Once you’ve done your research, send emails to every researcher your interested in working for (even ones your not ). I think I applied to 20 research positions in undergrad and only heard back from five, so it’s better to cast your net wide I personally loved being a research assistant in undergrad. However, I know plenty of people who thought it was soooo boring. My advice is, whether your enjoy it or not, make the most of it as it is such a privilege that not every pre health student gets 💛 #premed #prehealth #premedblog #MCATchanges #positivity #researchassistant #premedblogger #healthblogger #lifestyleblogger #premed #MCAT #premedicine #futuredoctor #lifestyleblog #wellnessblog #scienceblog #science #biology #studyinspiration #inspiration #sleep #womenshealth #recipe #foodblog #mcatstudy #womeninSTEM #homeworkouts #fitness #motivation #christiansinstem

When I filled out my work and activities section of AMCAS, I made sure to include a variety of both medical-related and non medical-related experiences to appear versatile and well-rounded to admissions committees. For instance, I included experiences such as shadowing in the fields of OBGYN & Reconstructive surgery, caregiving for Dementia patients, working as an ED medical scribe, volunteer coaching high school volleyball, and serving as a volunteer and mentor for a nonprofit baseball/basketball youth league. • • • • When choosing your most meaningful experiences be sure you choose something where you can emphasize your personal growth throughout the experience and explain how you made a significant impact on others and the community. As an example, one of my most meaningful experiences was serving as the VP of Lincoln University’s pre-medical club for 2 years. I used the extra characters to highlight the transformative nature of the experience and how it helped mold, develop, and reveal my leadership skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills, as well as my strengths and weaknesses. -Kyra • • • • #medsidescoop #medschool #futuremd #futuredoc #futuredoctor #application #medicalschool #premed #premedlife #covid19 #minoritymedics #medstudentlife #AMCAS #premeds #premedstudents #premedadvice #premedblog #premedmotivation
It’s funny how life works. We can spend years wishing, hoping and praying for our dreams to come true. And when we do get one step closer , we are quick to complain and say “oh Lord why??” ... but baby this is what you prayed for 🗣 • 1st week back and I am feeling a little overwhelmed😅. It’s hard trying to focus on learning new stuff all while trying to start slowly reviewing old material. I had a schedule in mind and it’s been kind of hard sticking to it. But this is what I prayed for. This is what I signed up for. I knew this journey would not be a piece of cake. So I have to find a way. And I will find a way💪🏾 • Just because things get hard doesn’t mean you don’t belong. Ok so your schedule isn’t working or you don’t feel like you are understanding a concept... Go back to the drawing board for a new strategy📝. You’re in your position for a reason. Each step will one day lead to your life goal. I need to dig deeper. And I need to rely on God more. As we all know, God doesn’t give you more than you can handle. 🙏🏾
“ No person has the right to rain on your dreams “ - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 👑 • Although, I have class on this MLK day, I reflect on the fact that I get to go to a medical school and become a physician 👩🏾⚕️without the burden of being denied strictly based on the color of my skin. So thank you MLK and the thousand others that fought, that died and those that continue to fight for all humans to be treated equally. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 • There is still work to be done. A lot of work. I pray for sight for those that are blinded by hate and ignorance. It’s hard to believe that my first year of medical school will be over in less than 10 days, 𝗪𝐎𝗪🤭 I learned heaps from my brilliant classmates and professors. Even though we’re currently studying for our next set of exams, we should feel a sense of accomplishment and pride for getting to this point. Congrats to everyone who’s already finished up their academic year. Especially those M4s who’ve graduated early—you all deserve a celebration for your success and how hard you’ve worked!🥳🥳🥳
Monday mood 🤍 ✨We’re all on unique paths but we’ll get to where we want to be. Continue to manifest & celebrate how far you’ve come.
Hello all you amazing humans! I’m Dr.Khan, a critical care doctor based in Los Angeles, and for those who've been here a while, THANKS for sticking around! If you’re new, I’d love to tell you just a little bit about who I am (and maybe surprise an old friend or two ). Since music is a language we all speak, let’s make that today’s theme! Ready??? 🎶 If I could pick a theme song for my entrance into every room, it would be make it happen by @mariahcarey . When I’m down, “if you believe in yourself and know what you want, you’re gonna make it happen. Make it happen!” can always put a smile on my face. 😃 If I need a push through a tough workout or a long day, I love to hear @britneyspears work b**ch. 💁🏻♀️ Any good road trip soundtrack must include @odesza and when I’m really feeling myself, I blast @beyonce , full volume. 🙌🏼💕 The first album I remember buying was my way by @usher because “you make me wanna” was my favorite song. I still know every lyric to the entire album and will dance, no matter what, when my way comes on. 💃🏻 Now you, what’s the song that best sums YOU up? 𝐌𝐀𝐉𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐒 📝 Submit your application early❗️ I know deadlines are being extended, but stay on top of it. The earlier you apply the better your chances are especially since some med schools evaluate apps as they come in 📝 Be Real❗️The committee has nothing to base you off of except a picture, MCAT scores + GPA, and what you choose to tell them about yourself. Include activities that you GENUINELY ENJOY in your application—that will speak volumes especially during your interviews! 📝 Pre-write your secondary essays❗️ProspectiveDoctor.com has a secondary essay database. You can also go through reddit and student doctor forums— students have compiled TONS of secondary essay prompts from the last few years. 📝 Reach out to your professors/physicians for recommendations❗️ It’s best to give them a least month. Pick people that have seen you grow and can vouch for you. Hopefully this helped someone! Have a great day🤍
I want to welcome new followers and introduce myself! I’m Barbara Hamilton, an interventional radiologist in Southern California, on a mission to demystify what it looks like to be a woman in a #maledominatedfield like IR! . In this pic I was feeling cute, getting ready to drain some pus!💎 . . Sometimes relieving patients of their walled- off infections or abscesses is a gratifying part of the day in the life of an #interventionalradiologist . We can do this by targeting deep infections throughout the body under imaging guidance, a #minimallyinvasive way to avoid a surgery! Talk about #instantgratification 🧞♂️ . . If you’re wondering what it looks like to be a woman in IR, head over to my blog, TiredSuperheroine.com 🦹🏻 .
