Any day that I get a medley of healing colors and herbs into my vibration is a darn good day. Though I had to make double the hibiscus, the wee little always steals the red one!! DELICIOUS HEALING IN RAINBOW COLORS!

HELLO + WELCOME 👋🏼 - It’s time for my next chapter. Firstly re-introducing myself. I’m a qualified naturopath with a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. 🎓 My own natural health journey started as a young teenager when I saw the effects that natural medicine gave to my Dads quality of life following a terminal cancer diagnosis. Following this I’ve had my own health challenges; gut problems, mental health issues, reproductive and hormonal abnormalities and autoimmunity. These adversities have all been a vital part in my life and health journey and I am now ready to help others. Yay! I’m passionate about working with individuals to reach their potential. I love all things gut, hormones and women’s health, thyroid + autoimmunity. I’ll be using this page to share health and lifestyle tips, recipes and other relevant info as well as how you can kick start your wellness journey with me. Stay posted for some exciting announcements and deals! And in the meantime check out my website, link in my bio 🌱
With my 40th birthday rapidly approaching I found myself considering what I wanted my life, and my work to look like for the next 30 years. I'd spent many years working with people in fashion, and interiors and although I love both people and design, I wanted to contribute something more substantial to peoples lives. I've always been a lover of food, and when I changed my crappy diet for a healthful one I felt spectacular and I wanted everyone to know that the right food could make you feel this good! I enrolled in a BHSc in Nutritional medicine and discovered a love of chemistry (a whole new language ) and reignited my love of biological sciences👩🏻⚕️ Some time during the first year of my degree I got chatting to some Naturopathy students and I began to realise that embracing herbal medicine would mean that I could help more people in more ways. Without having ever visited a Naturopath myself, I decided to add the extra year to my degree so that I could learn herbal medicine along with nutritional medicine and a herb nerd was born😉 Barely a day goes by without some herb love going on in my life! Herbal teas and tissanes are a great way to include the magic and therapeutic goodness of herbal medicine in our everyday lives. My love of herbs and their medicinal properties led me to formulate a range of organic teas for the symptoms and conditions that most often bothered my patients in clinic. Pictured here is my Naturae Herbal Restore tea blend, formulated with a blend of herbs traditionally used to nourish and support the nervous, immune and gastrointestinal systems. Restore is perfect if you are feeling fatigued, a bit stressed, under the weather or overwhelmed. It is energetically warm and soothing, and perfect as an after dinner tea. I think of Restore as a sweet, slightly spicy cup of self-care and it finds it way into my teacup most days xx Find out more here: https://www.naturaehealth.com/online-store/Restore-Herbal-Infusion-p124422122
A harvest of Plantain (Plantago major ) from a beautiful meadow with a view. Plantain was known as ‘Waybread’ in Anglo Saxon times. It has always been considered an important healing and soothing herb. It’s the first wayside choice for insect bites and stings, as well as a perfect blister treatment for hikers. Simply chew a leaf and apply to the affected area or line your shoe with leaves in the part that’s painful. It’s known as a ‘snake bite medicine’ and was traditionally used as such in Wales. “For the bite of an adder: Take the juice of plantain, ground ivy and olive oil, an equal quantity of each. Give the patient a good draught of it, and anoint the wound with the same. It will destroy the poison and cure the patient.” From ‘The Physicians of Myddfai’ by Terry Breverton. Plantain is soothing, demulcent and a little astringent. It can be prescribed as a relaxing expectorant or to calm allergic rhinitis. It’s also a good choice for cystitis where there is blood in the urine. I consider the two types (P lanceolata and P major ) interchangeable medicinally, but some people feel that P major has more of an affinity with the urinary system than P lanceolata. My harvest will be very carefully dried and then prescribed as either teas or tinctures over the year ahead. Do you gather Plantain leaves? . . #selfsufficientherbalism #plantagomajor #harvest #basket #foraging #wildcrafting #myherbalstudies #wildharvesting #herbalism #herbalist #herbsofinstagram #herbnerd #myddfai #theoldways #gatherandgrow #seasonalliving #rurallife #getoutside #author #somerset

Tribulus⠀terrestris also referred to as Bulgarian tribulus, bindii, goats head, coltrop, devils eyelashes and devils weed. 🌿 Tribulus has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. It is widely used to treat sexual and reproductive disorders in both men and women and as a remedy for cystitis, kidney stones & gout. 🌿 Today it is well known as a bodybuilding or training supplement. Tribulus can help to boost testosterone production, increase stamina during a workout as well as aiding post workout muscle recovery. It contains the steroidal saponin – protodioscin – which promotes the release of nitric oxide and increases the flow of oxygen rich blood to muscles. At the same time protodioscin stimulates the pituitary gland and luteinizing hormone causing a boost testosterone levels. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #health #naturopathherbals #herbnerd #nature #plantmedicine #plantwisdom #herballiquids #plantbased #wellness #herbalist #herbalapothecary #vegan #onlineherbsshop #herbaltinctures #naturopath #healthy #medicinalherbs #naturalsolutions #folkmedicine #greenwitchery #herbalmedicine #herbalextracts #herbs #herbaldrops #tribulus #tribulusterrestris #bulgariantribulus #tribulusliquid #tribulusextract #tribulustincture

Happy, Healthy, and Grateful.
“The name St. John’s Wort refers to the fact that the plant begins flowering on St. John’s Day, just before the summer solstice. This is considered the best day to pick it - though fortunately for us lazy, ill-timed people, St. John’s Wort remains in flower until the end of summer.” - Matthew Wood, The Book of Herbal Wisdom

Happy Sunday everyone!! If you’ve ever come across mullein, you know it’s a very friendly and approachable plant. If you’ve ever used mullein, you probably have experienced how healing and helpful it can be. The leaves are so soft and fuzzy and its flower stalk stands tall with bright yellow flowers as if to let you know she’s there. Today I am making an ear oil with mullein flowers I picked during our morning walk.💛 . . . . #teachyoself #herbnerd #demistifyyourmedicine #plantfriends #cookwithlove #cookandtell #makeityourself #wildfoodlove #foragedflowers #naturesmedicinecabinet #herbstolove #plantpower #mulleinflowers #mulleinoil #mullein #healingherbs

🌲 Long walks in the forest. 👩🌾 Tending plants on your balcony. 🌞 Holding a leaf up to the sun. 😍 Staring adoringly at your herbs (no shame - we do it too! ). Whatever it looks like, spending time out in Nature is one of the most primal and essential forms of self care. What's your favorite way of connecting with plants? 📷: @ayo .herbalist
Sundays are for prepping my favorite hair tea rinse for my weekly self care ritual. With my trusty water boiler it takes around 3 minutes to prepare this magical blend. Hair shedding is never an issue when I take the time to give my locs what it needs. • Remember to keep your tea refrigerated to keep it fresh and potent!! Add a few drops of our Hair + Beard Growth Oil to act as a natural preservative 🙌🏾
My favorite fireworks in July are the quiet ones that happen in the garden. 🌱 🌱 These are to celebrate all the wonderful souls who have joined in the raffle so far. Y'all have showed up in *such* a beautiful way. 🌱 🌱 The raffle runs through midnight tonight, so there's still time!! The raffle is supporting herb schools run by black, indigenous, people of color who are doing some seriously amazing work. Dreamy herbal prizes have been donated by some of my favorite herbal crafters, medicine makers, farmers, and authors. 🌱 🌱 A donation of $10 or more to one of the herb schools gets you into the raffle and supports some healing people-plant connections. Find out more at the link in my bio, or at florapottery.com/raffle 🌱 🌱 Thank you everyone!!!!

Health Industry Heroes: Just Thrive® - from Meagan, Customer Service Mermaid There are many health industry heroes out there, but my personal hero is Just Thrive® Probiotic. Happy Sunday. How have you been this weekend? I’ve had a really low key couple of days. Friday Jim and I went for a swim, and then had an early bed. Saturday, I deep cleaned the kitchen and did some meal prep. We played tennis and watched a movie in the evening. It’s felt quiet and restful. I feel like I’m in a good place mentally and spiritually. I’ve been trying to do things to uplift myself self-worth, focusing on and prioritizing the things I know make me happy. This is some rose water I made. I wanted to make a rose water toner since I’ve been running low and it’s my favourite way to freshen my face in the morning (plus it’s so good your your skin ), but I also thought It would be fun to make a rose simple syrup to make some virgin cocktails. I muddled up some raspberries in soda water and then added a small amount of lemon juice and the rose syrup. So good, but maybe just try for yourself. Scroll through for recipes. Enjoy what’s left of your weekend!
It’s time! 4.5 weeks later, I’ve finally strained this beautiful concoction. The magic from the dandelion, lavender, and rosehips has infused into the almond oil. 🌿Notice the difference between me straining with the strainer and muslin cloth, compared to when I strained one last time with a coffee filter. Straining with the coffee filter removed any remaining debris from the plants - Notice how much clearer the oil gets. I’m excited to add this elixir to my skincare regimen. I’m thinking to call it “liquid gold”. Refer to my original post for benefits.

Summer is so fleeting up here in the north, I'm always somewhat stressed to find all the herbs I need, to stock up for the coming 7 months of darkness & cold. #RedClover herb (Trifolium pratense ) is a perennial plant that is native to central Asia, Africa and most of Europe. ☘️ 𝐹𝑜𝓇 𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝓊𝓈𝑒𝓈; put your red clover in baths to aid in financial arrangements. Also used in potions for lust, or in love spells. Used in sachets or incense for money, love, fidelity, success and luck. Protects and blesses domestic animals. Used in consecration of ritual tools made of copper also I’ve come to known you can sprinkle them around the home to remove negative energies and spirits. In folk magic Red Clover is used in a ritual bath to attract money and prosperity to the bather and is also used as a floorwash to chase out evil and unwanted ghosts. 𝐹𝑜𝓇 𝓂𝑒𝒹𝒾𝒸𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓊𝓈𝑒𝓈; Clovers are very good for both your health and your animals health. It is a source of many nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. Red clover is a rich source of isoflavones (chemicals that act like estrogens and are found in many plants ). it has been used in cancer treatment and prevention. For women with normal estrogen levels, red clover isoflavones may displace some natural estrogens, possibly preventing or relieving estrogen-related symptoms, such as breast pain, that are associated with PMS. This effect may also reduce the possibility of developing estrogen-dependent cancer of the endometrium. In addition, results from a review of nearly 1000 women suggest that red clover may interfere with an enzyme known to promote the progression of endometrial cancer. #herbs #herbnerd #flowersmakemehappy #herbalists #driedflowers #witchyways #witchessociety #naturegivesusallweneed

This isn't a "look at me, I'm so smart" post. In fact, it's quite the opposite. This is a "look, I know it's hard, but don't ever doubt yourself & especially don't give up, because the hard work will pay off" post. Eight years ago I graduated as a qualified Naturopath, & although I loved the industry, I felt like there was still so much more to learn. I felt like my course was so fast-paced with tonnes crammed into a short period of time & because of that, I started to lose confidence in what I'd learned & also my ability to be great. Almost eight years passed until I finally built up the courage to enroll into University & further my education. EIGHT YEARS! 😱 In your 20's, that's a long time. A lot changes in eight years. My point is, if you continue to hold onto your fear; you will continue to hold yourself back. Instead, step outside of your comfort zone & accept the life challenge. 🚀 I have my first trimester results back for Evidence-based Practice, an essential subject that teaches you the components of clinical judgment in the delivery of quality healthcare. A teaching that helps you to gain an understanding of how research evidence is translated into practice. 📚 Assessments involved literally critically evaluating scientific Journal articles, to see if the research study was valid & reliable - tell me that's not scary! 🥶 Anyway, I GOT A HIGH DISTINCTION! I'm pretty bloody proud of myself for it ✨♥️🤓 . #naturopath #holistichealth #naturaltherapies
One of my most valued memories as a child during the season was making pomander balls. The smell of orange and cloves made me feel so comforted. These aromatherapy balls have been around since the Middle Ages. Their name derives from French “pommes d’ambre”, amber apple. They were used as personal scents and as presents during Yule. Symbolically, the orange is the return of the sun and the cloves represent friendship. These sweet balls are easy to make and keep for months, if not longer. While I can’t give each of you one, I send you this picture and thank you for the friendship and support during this year. May 2020 shine brightly for you. #witchesofinstagram #pomander #herbnerd #earthmedicine #clove
I made my first ever drying rack for my herbs. It's installed in my living room above my daughter's play area. I'm sure she doesn't mind ☺️ I'm drying roman chamomile (thanks @aurora .puff for the seeds ), sage and lemon balm. It's like having a little garden indoor. Last year I grew german chamomile but I don't recommend it for tea. Didn't like it. Calendula officinalis, marigold. Beautiful flowers filled with sunshine. We harvested these from my parents house and they are now drying so I can use them for herbal creations. Calendula has medicinal properties that that display a benefit when used both internally and externally. Conditions treated include peptic ulcers, enlarged lymph glands, acne, period pain, ulcers, cold sores, eczema, wounds, burns, nappy rash, haemorrhoids, varicose veins and insect bites. It can be used in teas, tinctures, creams and salves and is soothing to the mucous membranes of the mouth when used as a mouth rinse. #herbnerd #herbalist #naturopath #adelaidenaturopath #calendula #portelliot #fleurieupeninsular #adelaidehealth #herbs #holsitichealth #plantmedicine
Hey guys! I wanted to introduce myself to our new followers. I’m Chloe and this handsome devil is my magical son, Remy. As an acupuncturist and herbalist my life’s goal was to make Chinese medicine (and particularly, Chinese herbal medicine ) more accessible and affordable. When Remy was diagnosed with a 1:20,000,000 genetic disorder that causes epilepsy and global disabilities - I knew I had to do everything I could to support him to reach his healthiest and happiest life. Remy and I have been to doctors all over (including a clinic we go to in Ecuador for a month twice a year ). We have hunted high and low and our path has had many twists and turns. It was out of a desperate need to find a higher quality, more specified CBD formulation for Remy that Radical Roots was formed. While we give 40% off to many populations (veterans, people with a low income or anyone with a disability or their caregiver ) this pandemic has been a powerful reminder of the inequalities within our communities and has reignited my drive to make “alternative” “holistic” medicine available to all. I have a few new exciting projects that I am working on along that front - but in general you should expect that I’ll be in here trying to help you find ways to implement new health habits into your life. As for our products - they are the absolute highest quality you can find and they have not only changed Remy’s life - but they help me live my best life so I can help him and as many other people as possible. #cbd #chinesemedicine #traditionalmedicine #stxbp1 #specialneedsmom #cutekid #disabilityawareness #nonverbal #acupuncture #mamaonamission #herbnerd #biohacked #proudmom #neurodiversity #neurohacking #payitforward #communityhealth #inclusion #health #integrativemedicine #useyourprivilegeforgood #damntheman #plantmedicine
