Flew into Salt Lake City today and drove to Yellowstone. Got my two workouts in. They both happened to be outdoor walk/hikes. So that was fun. Finished up day 24. Almost 1/3 of the way there!!! #75hard Day 1 I’ve been a bit quiet lately. Lockdown and life in general has been putting me through it... so that brings us here. In January I watched @hopescope ‘s video on the @andyfrisella 75 challenge. I was in my grind with the gym at the time and didn’t think much of it, but it stuck in the back of my mind. Recently I’ve been feeling kinda crap and I recalled this challenge. *Queue me watching videos, listening to the podcasts, following the hashtag on Instagram etc etc, for the last two odd weeks*, wondering if I’m actually going to do this. This isn’t a physical challenge, it’s a mental one. As Andy Frisella says, mental toughness and fortitude is a skill, it’s a muscle, it’s not something you have or don’t, it’s something you need to build and continue to work on to maintain. I’ve recognised this is an area I need to grow in, so I’m giving it a shot 🙃 The principles of the challenge are pretty simple, the hard part comes in by doing all of them, every day, for 75 days: ☑️ Follow a diet. ☑️ You must complete two 45-minute workouts. One of those workouts MUST be outdoors. ☑️ Absolutely NO alcohol or cheat meals. ☑️ Take a progress picture every day. ☑️ Drink 1 gallon of plain water (US gallon = 3.79L ). ☑️ Read 10 pages of a (non-fiction ) book. No compromises, no substitutions. You have until you go to sleep to complete the day. 75Hard-Book 2- My second book for 75Hard was The Four Agreements by @donmiguelruiz This book very quickly became an all time favorite of mine. I don’t think there’s a person in the world who wouldn’t benefit from reading it, in fact I believe society would be much better off if everyone read this and made these four agreements with themselves. I would love to see this as required reading material for middle school or high school. The 4 agreements are based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the idea that if you adopt these four agreements your life will be beautiful and the drama will disappear. The agreements are: 1-Be impeccable with your word 2-Don’t take anything personally 3-Don’t make assumptions 4-Always do your best. These may sound simple and basic, but I assure you upon reading what these principles truly mean it is not that easy, especially if you are a people pleaser like I have been. My biggest take away: In the world we are living in now, is “Don’t take anything personally.” It doesn’t matter what people say about you or think of you or do, their actions are a reflection of them, not you. “Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness because we make the assumption that everything is about “me.”” There’s that word assumption. Upon reading this book you will instantly look at the problems we see in society differently. We see people every day not being impeccable with their word, gossiping, spreading lies or making hateful comments. We see people taking things personally, oftentimes things that didn’t even have anything to do with them in the first place, but they have managed to make it personal. We see people making assumptions about everything, instead of asking, if they aren’t sure they just assume what others mean or assume what they are thinking, we all do this. Lastly if you're beginning to understand these agreements and you’re honest, you’re probably not doing your best to live up to these agreements, if you do your best, your best will get better and before you know it you will know and understand true happiness, drama and negativity from others will no longer affect you. #75hard
Woah NELLY!! It’s 10:09pm and I JUST finished my water for the day... today I struggled! I wanted ALL the junk... I know exactly why too 🤔 it’s that time of the month, COME ON LADIES... you know you want all the chocolate, all the cookies, all the chips OR maybe you’re some kind of unicorn that only craves on plan food items 😂 My eating schedule was a bit off which didn’t help matters but I learned something valuable today... DON’T ever veer from the plan!!! Had I stuck to the schedule I set out I should have been done all tasks by 7:45pm! I can’t believe yesterday I finished #75hard 🤯😭 it was an intense and rewarding experience. I think I’m proud of myself for having finished 75 Hard than to have graduated college😂 Yesterday marked my 75 days but I completed 84 days since I missed my picture on day 9 and needed to restart it. It’s not an insane physical difference, but what I gained is much more than that. I gained muscle, energy, stamina, determination, discipline, confidence, knowledge, wisdom and more. I read 6.5 books and overcame physical “obstacles.” This shit really was hard, it really tested my commitment to it. Cris and I traveled to Fresno and had to drive 9 hours and still get our 45 minute workout at 4am when we got back 😩 but it has taught me so much about myself. I highly recommend it to everyone and @andyfrisella really got this program out to everyone for FREE when someone would’ve otherwise charged for it. That’s fucking dope. Listen in to his podcast and learn more about it, it’ll definitely change your whole mindset. I will never, ever forget an infomercial I saw when I was maybe 10 years old. They were selling a weight loss supplement in the form of a tablet. The testimonials of course claimed that the pill and the pill alone would help you lose a significant amount of weight. This claim was backed only by before & after photos of consumers that had apparently had success with the product. One of the interviewees and I shit you not, stated this exactly, “You just take a pill and the fat..it just melts off!” To this day my dad and I have a running joke making fun of that infomercial for its absurd claims and horrific marketing. . There is no magic pill, my friends. I was 10 years old and knew that the products sold on tv were nothing but paid actors and false promises - so you definitely should too. . I believe that if you want to change your body and take control over your health, there is no substitution for hard work and consistency. THAT is the magic pill. . With that being said, there absolutely are products that can assist your efforts toward creating a healthier & stronger you - but pls just remember that they aren’t miraculous and won’t ever replace fundamental principals such as training hard, eating nutrient dense foods, and staying active. .
