There’s a HUGE travel announcement in the vlog we just put up! Shane and I will be going overseas for the second time together, and we’re going to my favorite place in the world. I’m so excited to share it with him❤️ Click the link in my bio to watch!
The video Shane and I just posted is one of my favorites we’ve done in a while. We filmed it during our time in Wisconsin, and it’s filled with us happily exploring new places. There are some very friendly ducks in it, some cute towns, and a hilarious and bizarre text conversation between Shane and a troll who found his phone number. Click the link in my bio to watch! Also, I just got this shirt in the mail today from @birdsonglondon and I love it😍 It was beautifully designed by @drawingsofdogs
The Milwaukee Art Museum has tons of cool art and some gorgeous views of Lake Michigan, so thank you to the people who recommended we go there! Even though Shane set off one of the alarms like an art thief, we still had fun. We just put up a new video about our first few days in Wisconsin, and we hope you’ll watch! I wash Shane’s hair while he lays in bed (complete with soap and water ), Shane drives his wheelchair onto a precarious floating dock, and garlic pull-apart bread cheers me up. We spent part of last week in Evanston, IL, where we began interviewing couples for our book! We had a great time, and, as always, we ate lots of good food. This photo is from a restaurant we unashamedly went to two nights in a row. We just put up a vlog about our time in and around Chicago, and we hope you’ll watch! There’s footage of me running in the video, and this could be your once in a lifetime opportunity to see such a rare occurrence. Click the link in my bio!
This is my genuine reaction to a relatively tame scene in a virtual reality game. Although it might not look like it in this photo, I’m actually obsessed with this VR headset and want one of my own. Click the link in my bio to watch a video of the whole family (including Shane ) trying it out!
We made a video about the behind-the-scenes at the Laughing At My Nightmare 5K! Go watch me haul water jugs, see the volunteers pack runner bags, and find out if Shane and I made it to the finish line. Click the link in my bio to watch! Photo by @jermcohen

Shane and I are back in Minneapolis! We had so much fun in Pennsylvania this weekend. @laughingatmynightmareinc ’s 5K was a huge success, and we got to meet so many wonderful people. While we were there, @jermcohen took some photos of us (like this one ) that I’m completely obsessed with. He’s an amazing photographer and I’ll probably post way too many of his pictures. Thank you, Jeremy! We’re only here in Minnesota for one day before we leave for Los Angeles to attend and speak at the CureSMA Conference! If you’re attending the conference too, we hope you’ll come to our event! We’ll be speaking at a Breakfast/Symposium on Saturday, June 29th at 7:15am that Genentech/Roche is sponsoring. It’s in the South Exhibit Hall of the Grand Californian Hotel.
My dad spent a good portion of today helping us move furniture out of our (now empty ) apartment. I’m so lucky to have such a supportive, fun, and incredibly smart dad. Thank you for reading “Goodnight Moon” to me six times a night for years. I love you! Happy Father’s Day!
After thoroughly weighing my options, I decided to say yes. I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be spending my life with such an amazing person. I love you, Shane! 📷 @misslerphotography
I’m super grateful for all of the amazing opportunities and experiences @shaneburcaw and I have been having recently. I’m especially thankful for all of the people supporting us who have made it possible🥰
Shane and I found the perfect spot to relax near a waterfall today : )
There’s nothing I love more than going on road trips with Shane. However, there’s quite possibly nothing more annoying than returning to our parked van to discover that someone has parked in the access aisle that Shane needs. Shane and I have mentioned this issue countless times, but thankfully, we just discovered a new initiative by @BraunAbility that we absolutely LOVE. It’s called Drive for Inclusion, and its goal is to create more accessibility and inclusion for people who live with mobility challenges, starting with parking accessibility. Learn more about the movement and how you can join in at the link in my bio. #braunability #driveforinclusion
We had a great family brunch today, with colorful eggs and delicious bread. Shane has about 500 more books to sign before the release on April 30th, so it’s back to work for us! What is everyone else up to today?
Shane and I are so excited that we will be able to go to Laughing At My Nightmare’s 5K this year! Last year’s event was a blast, and we got to hang out with so many fun people. If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy running (like me ), you’ll be pleased to hear that this race is very laid back. I chose to roll the 3.1 miles on a long board, holding onto Shane’s wheelchair so I wouldn’t have to expel any energy. We hope you’ll attend with us! It’ll be a super fun day, and your registration will help Laughing At My Nightmare provide equipment to people living with muscular dystrophy! Where: Bethlehem, PA When: June 22nd, 2019 How: Click the link in my bio! 📷 @jermcohen
Our meet up in Orlando was so much cooler than we ever could have imagined. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us. We had so much fun laughing with all of you!
You may have seen Shane’s recent post, in which he attempted to assassinate my character. What he didn’t tell you, is that most Top Models take a few minutes to get into the zone.
“100 out of 100 relationships that involve caregiving fail.” -Dr. Phil Our friends @mattieplummer and @bethanyroseplummer posted a beautiful photo of themselves together with this quote by Dr. Phil. We thought it was a great way to show Dr. Phil (and his viewers ) that many relationships that involve caregiving are successful. If you’re in an interabled relationship and want to join us, post a photo of yourselves with the above Dr. Phil quote, but add this hashtag: #100outof100. This way, we can see all the amazing photos together in one place! Make sure you tag @drphil too! Here’s our photo! We’ve been together for three years and have been happily living together for one. If you want to see our latest video about turning down being on Dr. Phil and reacting to his false, damaging comments about interabled couples, click the link in my bio.
Three years ago today, I saw a documentary about Shane and emailed him. Three years ago tomorrow, Shane woke up, read my email, and promptly sent me his number. I don’t know what compelled me to contact a stranger, but it was the luckiest thing I ever did. I’ve had the privilege of loving Shane for three whole years now, and we’re so excited to share tomorrow with you! Shane and I will be going live on YouTube at 3PM EST. We’ll be sharing photos from early on in our relationship (like this one from our first date ), and talking about our favorite memories. We hope to see you all there!
In his smile post today, Shane wrote about a sweet moment with my niece. She had just gotten a new stuffed bear, and was showing its soft fur to everyone. When she noticed that Shane couldn’t reach out to feel how soft her bear was, she went over and rubbed it on his hand. Aside from that being super adorable, it also shows that children’s discomfort around disability is a totally learned phenomenon. The vast majority of kids stare or point at Shane as he goes by. We don’t blame the kids, but it’s annoying nonetheless. Every once in a while, we’ll come across a kid who has clearly had experience with people who have disabilities. Those kids sometimes say, “What a cool chair!” Or, “Oooh, he uses a chair like Kevin!” Those interactions are always positive, and always heart warming. If you have kids, introduce them to people with disabilities! If you don’t know anyone with a disability, get to know someone! It’ll make your kids more inclusive members of society, and will save you from the embarrassment of your kid shouting “What’s wrong with him?” as we pass by.
Shane and I are trying hard to keep things fun and entertaining during this endless winter. Part of that means snapping giant icicles off of our roof and parading them around. Another part is making videos. Our latest vlog is up at the link in my bio, and it’s a long one!
We hit 200,000 subscribers on Squirmy and Grubs! Thank you to every single one of you. We can’t believe your support and are so grateful. . As always, we love seeing this design by @pinkietoons at the beginning of all our videos! . If you’re here from our YouTube giveaway, don’t forget to leave a comment on this photo : ) . WINNER WAS ANNOUNCED ON SHANE’S STORY AND CONTACTED! Thank you everyone for entering!
Shane is a great cuddling partner, but a terrible cooking partner. Check out our latest video to see Shane drop our red pepper, suck on a lime wedge, and repeatedly declare himself “head chef.” . To be fair, Shane’s song at the end of the video was a great throwback to our London vlog. Cooking with him isn’t so bad. . 📷Another gorgeous photo by @dguttenfelder
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! I’m feeling extra grateful to have @shaneburcaw as my Valentine. I appreciate him every day, but it’s always nice to have a day to focus on the amazing person that I get to spend my life with. Shane, I love our routine of having coffee and tea together every morning. I love that we don’t go to the grocery store until it’s an emergency situation. I love planning and making Squirmy and Grubs videos together. The list of things I love about our days together is endless. Most of all, I love you. . I list many more things I love about Shane in the video @instagram made about us! We are lucky enough to be featured by them today, and the video they made is, in my humble opinion, extremely cute. . I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day celebrating the many forms of love we have in our lives!❤️ . 📷Photo by @dguttenfelder
This is probably the coolest thing ever. @shaneburcaw and I are so grateful to all of our subscribers for getting us this YouTube Creator Award! A video of us unboxing it is at the link in my bio : )
Shockingly, that isn’t what Shane was actually saying here. The YouTube generated captions are terrible at understanding what we’re actually saying, are wrong 90% of the time, and are horrible to edit. Because of this, we make our own captions. A lot of people have commented things like, “You guys are easy to understand! Don’t worry about captioning your videos.” It’s important not to forget that captions are a huge part of accessibility. Our channel is largely focused on accessibility, so we would be hypocrites if we didn’t follow through to make our own content accessible. We caption our videos so that anyone who wants to watch them can, and we think all YouTubers should do the same.
Shane and I had a lot of fun making our most recent video! Unfortunately, our laughing faces are never cute at the same time. Sorry, Shane😘
So...this happened! Shane and I were lucky enough to be on @thismorning today! We had a great time, and I didn’t pass out on live tv, so I would call it a success. The link to watch the segment is in my bio! #disabilityawareness #disability #disabilityadvocate #interabled
Happy birthday @liz aylward! I really lucked out having you as my mom. You do so much for me and everyone around you, so I hope you take today to focus on yourself! I love you!
PLEASE DON’T PARK ON THE STRIPED LINES. THEY’RE THERE FOR A REASON.
2018 has been a pretty awesome year. Shane and I moved into our own apartment, started Squirmy and Grubs, and traveled all over the place (special thanks to @liz aylward for being our best travel buddy! ). I can’t think of a better way to end this year than visiting Shane’s family in Pennsylvania. I hope everyone has a great New Year’s Eve!
